A quiet way to remember.
Giftwise is a working title for a gift-planning product currently in private beta with friends and family of the developer. The app, the brand and this website are all evolving. If you've found us, hello — and apologies for any rough edges.
Giftwise is a private gift planner, built for the kind of person who spots something perfect for their mum in February and immediately forgets about it by the time her birthday comes round in October.
It does three things, and only three things:
- Tracks the people you buy gifts for — their birthdays, sizes, the things they like, the gift ideas you've had for them.
- Lets you keep your own wishlists — a private list of things you'd love, shareable with friends and family via a single link, no account required for them to view it.
- Reminds you before each occasion — so you have time to plan something better than a panic-buy on the way home from work.
Why it exists
Most gift apps want you to spend time inside them, browsing. Giftwise wants the opposite. The whole point is to set things up once, then have it work quietly in the background until the time comes.
The companion features — barcode scanning when you're out shopping, a questionnaire-driven gift discovery flow, a shared "vault" you can sync with a partner — are all there to make the planning itself faster, not to keep you hooked.
How it's different
Everything is stored on your device using your browser's local storage. No accounts, no servers, no tracking. Your gift lists never leave your phone or laptop unless you explicitly export them.
Built by an independent UK developer. Currency, retailers, occasions and tone are all UK-first — so a "Mother's Day" date is March, not May, and "the high street" means John Lewis, not Macy's.
The gift discovery feature is built on a hand-picked catalogue of 50 themed collections — wardrobe staples, Mother's Day edits, weekend bag essentials, Father's Day classics — all sourced from real UK retailers (John Lewis, Not On The High Street, Cult Beauty, Daylesford, Liberty, and many others).
About the maker
Giftwise is built and operated by Coldharbour Tech Limited, a UK-registered software studio founded by Nicholas Morgan. Coldharbour Tech builds quiet, useful tools for people who care about doing things well — Giftwise is its first product.
The studio is small and independent, with no investors and no marketing department. Decisions are made carefully, with the user's interests first.

How Giftwise is funded
Giftwise is free to use, with a free tier that covers the everyday needs of most people. A premium tier (coming later) will offer extra features for users who want them. Either way, there will never be ads, sponsored content, or paid placements anywhere in the app.
When you click through to a UK retailer from a Giftwise gift suggestion, the link sometimes carries an affiliate tag — if you go on to buy something, the retailer pays a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the project alongside the premium tier.
More detail on this is in the affiliate disclosure.
